Hyundai crews contest in national rally ahead of WRC Central European Rally
29th September 2025Hyundai’s crews of Thierry Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux are contesting other rallies in preparation for the World Rally Championship’s upcoming Central European Rally.

The WRC is preparing for its first return to asphalt road conditions since the Rally Islas Canarias back in April, as the sport returns to Europe for the Central European Rally next week.
As such, two of the Hyundai crews, Thierry Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux, alongside their co-drivers Martijn Wydaeghe and Alexandre Coria, are competing in national rallies in preparation for the event.
It will give the team time to prepare for the change of surface, having completed the last seven events on gravel, spanning from Rally de Portugal in May until Rally Chile Bio Bio in September.
Last time out on sealed surfaces, Hyundai struggled to match the pace of the leading Toyotas. Fourmaux and Coria stood as the fastest Hyundai crew of the event, in fourth, whilst Tanak and Neuville – alongside their co-drivers – finished fifth and sixth.
Ahead of CER, Neuville and Wydaeghe competed in the East Belgian Rally last weekend, and the home crew took the fastest time of the event, four minutes faster than their closest competitor.
Additionally, Fourmaux and Coria are set to compete in the final round of the European Rally Championship at Rally Croatia. This is set to take place this weekend, on October 3 – 5
Whilst both Neuville and Fourmaux are taking part in national rallies, this will not be the case for Tänak, who has been let loose from scoring manufacturer points for the remainder of the season, in a bid to strengthen his chances at the driver’s title.
A Hyundai Motorsport spokesperson confirmed to ApexMotorsports.co.uk that Ott Tänak will not participate in any national rallies ahead of CER, but will instead prepare with pre-event test days.
