Last week, Hamilton confirmed that his Bulldog was admitted into hospital after being treated for pneumonia, and was struggling to breathe.

In his social media post, on Instagram, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion confirmed Roscoe’s heart stopped whilst they completed their checks. Hamilton said they were able to get a heartbeat again and placed his dog into a coma.

On Monday, Hamilton announced on social media that Roscoe has sadly passed.

“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe,” Hamilton said on Instagram.

“He never stopped fighting, right until the very end. I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend. Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together.

“Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have. It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet.

“Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.

“Thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown Roscoe over the years. It has been so special to witness and feel.”

Hamilton was meant to be working with Pirelli at Mugello last week, working on a tyre test with F1’s sole tyre provider ahead of the 2026 season. However, the seven-time world champion missed the event to be with Roscoe, with Ferrari reserve driver Zhou Guanyu taking his place alongside Charles Leclerc.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
