It marks the third time this year that the WRC Commission has gathered, which was held on September 22, 2025, and discussed several matters, including rest hours, remote service, and submission deadlines.

The commission met on the back of the WRC’s South American double header, where they first visited Paraguay for the inaugural event at the end of August, before crossing the Andes to Chile in September.

“It has been a very busy few weeks in the WRC with two successful events in South America including an all-new event in Paraguay that was a fantastic addition to the calendar,” said Commission President, Pernilla Solberg.

“We are working hard behind the scenes on refinements to regulations throughout the rally pyramid, and today I was very pleased to see a strong focus on addressing some of the key topics that have been raised by the rallying community over the past year.

“This proactive approach is something that we will carry forward to the end of this ultra-competitive 2025 season.”

One of the ongoing factors from the commission revolved around ‘rest hours’ for the WRC competitors and personnel, which was reportedly discussed in detail during the commission.

A proposal was already in place between the FIA, WRC Promoter and competitors, which was to ensure that those working ‘on-event’ had enough time to recover between competitive sections of the rally. Promoting safer working conditions for crews, officials and volunteers.

The FIA has confirmed that the principles of the proposal were agreed and there is a revised version in the works, which will be put to an e-vote in the next few weeks.

Final approval of the rest hours will be implemented in the sporting regulations from 2026 onwards.

The commission also discussed remote service and submission deadlines for Itineraries.

It has been confirmed a proposal to restrict the number of remote service zones to one per rally has been approved. However, the FIA has confirmed the preferred methodology will be in the hands of the organisers to ensure that the events are ‘as efficient as possible.’

They have confirmed they are open to other options for consideration, submitted to the FIA.

Additionally, the commission also approved extending the deadline for rally organisers to submit their itineraries from five and a half months to six. This has been done to improve consistency and ensure high standards on the WRC calendar for all events.
