3 bold predictions for F1 2025

It’s February, meaning it is only over a month before the Formula 1 season restarts, with the inaugural launch and pre-season tests set to be completed this month.

F1 is nearly back. New drivers will be settling themselves in their new steads, returning drivers will be making themselves comfortable with their current or new teams and a new championship is set to be decided in 2025. 

We have previously done a piece on six bold predictions which were determined by AI, but what are my bold predictions for the 2025 season? 

Ferrari gets constructors 

McLaren v Ferrari was the talk of the town in the latter stages of the 2024 season, ultimately won by the Papaya team. 

With the sniff of championship glory within their reach last season, going into 2025 the Scuderia should be hoping to finally pull it off for the first time since 2008. 

This aim will be strengthened by the arrival of Lewis Hamilton who will no doubt be rejuvenated after a troubling divorce from Mercedes last year. 

The seven-time world champion will be joined by Charles Leclerc, an eight-time race winner and one of the fastest one-lap drivers on the grid. 

It is expected that the championship will be fought between Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari – Mercedes could also be involved. However, my bold prediction is that Ferrari will win in the end. 

Hamilton win’s Australian GP

Following a troubling end to his 12-year stint at the Mercedes team, Hamilton has entered 2025 with a new team, a new teammate, and a new power unit. 

Whilst qualifying wasn’t his strong suit against Mercedes’ George Russell, in 2024, to write his qualifying performance off would be a disgrace to the seven-time world champion. 

It may take some time for him to be fully up-to-speed, but no matter how many pre-season tests he completes, Hamilton will likely still qualify inside the top five at the Australian Grand Prix – F1’s season opener. 

However, even in his last races with Mercedes, he showed he still had the race pace. It seems like winning the season opener in Melbourne would be something the multiple world champion will do, re-energised by his new team.

Aston Martin gets a podium late on 

In 2023, Aston Martin dominated podium finishes. Fernando Alonso took on six podium finishes in the opening six races, taking eight across the season and ultimately helping him finish fourth overall. However, in 2024, the team’s performance dropped – failing to get a podium result. 

In 2025, with Adrian Newey’s arrival, it seems like their performance is bound to increase since the only way is up after last season’s performance. 

They will likely be around the same in terms of performance, as the grand master of F1 car designs is not able to start work for the team until March 3. But, it shouldn’t be out of the question that they will be in the running for a podium in the latter stages of the season. 

If given the opportunity, it’s without doubt the likely contender to secure the team’s first podium since Sao Paulo 2023 will be Alonso.
