Antonelli completes big test ahead of 2025 F1 season
29th January 2025Mercedes’ protégé Andrea Kimi Antonelli has completed a big test ahead of his rookie season with the eight-time world champions in 2025: his driving test.

Antonelli, whom is set to replace the team’s seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton who is settling in with his new team Ferrari, turned 18 last August which is the legal minimum age to drive a car in Italy.
Just ahead of the 2025 season where the Italian will see out his rookie season with the Silver Arrows, partnered up alongside George Russell.
On Tuesday, Mercedes posted on social media on Kimi Antonelli’s ‘Mission completed’ post where the Italian confirmed he had passed his driving test.

On the post, Mercedes confirmed their new driver has his driving licence and will now have the super licence which will allow him to race in F1.
Despite not previously holding a drivers licence, the Italian had already put mileage behind F1 machinery with tests in both FP1 at the Italian Grand Prix and the Mexican Grand Prix.
He also competed in the junior Formula 2 category ahead of his rookie season in F1, this year, where he finished sixth in between Jak Crawford and Victor Martins.
The Italian will get further mileage behind an F1 car ahead of the season-opening round in Australia as the sport completes its pre-season test, where Antonelli will share driving duties in the W16.
