Hadjar is facing disqualification from the Miami GP due to a technical infringement on his car floor, which was identified during post-qualifying scrutineering.
It was found that the Frenchman’s rear floorboard was protruding too far on the right and left sides of his car.
Following the breach, the Technical Delegate has escalated it to the stewards. In the report, Jo Bauer’s statement said:
“After the Qualifying, legality volumes were checked on car number 06 [Hadjar].
“The LHS [left-hand side] and RHS [Right-hand side] floor board were protruding 2mm out of the reference volume RV-FLOOR BOARD.
“As this is not in compliance with Article C3.5.5 of the Formula 1 Technical Regulation, I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”
Technical breaches found post-scrutineering are usually slam-dunk penalties, meaning Hadjar is almost certain to receive disqualification from the stewards, making this merely a formality.
However, there is a delay in the Frenchman’s summons. Usually, this sort of infringement is done on the same day as the breach, but according to the summons report, Hadjar will attend his meeting at 7am local.
The Red Bull driver had qualified ninth, unable to match the pace of his teammate, four-time world champion Max Verstappen, who managed to get his updated RB23 up on the front row alongside Mercedes’ polesitter Kimi Antonelli.
