Following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the retaliatory responses from Iran, the World Endurance Championship will finally get underway this weekend after postponing its usual season opener in Qatar.

The season was meant to get underway in the Middle East for the Qatar 1812km, but this was postponed to October 22-24, 2026, to allow the tension in the area and the ongoing conflict to de-escalate.

As such, the pre-season prologue has been completed in Ferrari’s backyard, in their home county of Italy, at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, commonly known as Imola.

In their home event, Ferrari topped the timing boards after the PM session of the prologue with Antonio Fuoco headlining the timing sheets with a 1m 31.177s lap, 0.126s faster than AF Corse’s Robert Kubica, and nearly two-tenths quicker than Antonio Giovinazzi.

As confirmed by the Entry List ahead of the event, a total of 35 entries will make up the WECs curtain-raiser, consisting of 17 Hypercar and 18 LMGT3 entries (including their sister cars, if applicable).

So, with the 6 Hours of Imola preparing to kick off the championship, here is the official schedule of the race weekend.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
