6 Hours of Fuji: Who leads after the first hour of the WEC race?
28th September 2025Cadillac heads the field at the 6 Hours of Fuji, at the Fuji Speedway, for the World Endurance Championship after the first hour of action concludes.

The 100th World Endurance Championship race got underway at Japan’s Fuji Speedway, under dry conditions, for the penultimate round of the championship, and it wasn’t without problems for those up and down the field.
Cadillac Hertz Team Jota lead the field with their #12 entry after the first 60 minutes of the six-hour race, heading a provisional one-two for the American brand. The sister Cadillac, #38, occupied second place ahead of the #93 Peugeot TotalEnergies, who rounded out the top three.
Further down the pack, in the LMGT3 class, United Autosport took over the reins with the #59 heading the class ahead of the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang, as the sister #95 United Autosport McLaren rounded out the top three.
How did the first hour unfold?
As Cadillac opened up the race from pole position, it wasn’t long before the elbows were out.
Porsche’s #5 Hypercar was forced onto the gravel after being pushed off track by the #009 Aston Martin. The Porsche managed to continue on their way, down in sixth, behind both the Aston Martin and #51 Ferrari, in fourth and fifth.
Additionally, both United Autosport McLarens dispatched the pole-sitting Aston Martin Vantage of Racing Spirit of Leman, amongst the LMGT3 competitors.
The sister Aston Martin, #007, brought out the yellow flag and the Full Course Yellow, three minutes later, after they made contact with the #36 Alpine. Both cars managed to go on, but the debris brought out the FCY.
Just before the FCY was brought out, further up the order, the other Alpine tapped the rear-left of the #8 Toyota, and the Japanese car suffered an immediate puncture. The Toyota was forced to pit under the FCY, which isn’t allowed under the current ruleset of the WEC.
The #8 Toyota returned to the circuit amongst the LMGT3 contenders.
Just as the session’s first hour was drawing to a close, there were two spells of Full Course Yellows, allowing the marshals to remove debris from the track. It was soon upgraded to a full safety car as the first 60 minutes finished.
