Peugeot make Friday sweep of practice at WEC 6 Hours of Fuji

Peugeot has topped the timing boards to clean-sweep Friday’s practice, at the 6 Hours of Fuji, for the Hypercar class whilst Lexus’ Akkodis ASP topped the LMGT3 class, consecutively.

The opening day of the World Endurance Championship’s Fuji race, in Japan, concluded under another sunny and dry session at the Fuji Speedway, following similar conditions in the morning.

However, the session did not go without issue as there were two brief spells of Full Course Yellows, to allow the marshals to remove debris from the circuit.

So, how did FP2 end?

Hypercar

Peugeot remained the fastest car out on track, topping the times with a 1m 29.495s with their #93 car. Their time was marginally quicker than the #5 Porsche, who was 0.017s slower. Aston Martin’s #009 entry occupied third, 0.047s behind Peugeot.

Toyota increased their pace in the second practice session, going as high as fourth in the overall standings, ahead of Alpine’s #35 A424 in fifth. The sister #7 Toyota completed the sandwich for the Japanese manufacturer, occupying sixth.

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA’s #12 entry finished the second bout of 90-minutes with a seventh-place finish ahead of Ferrari’s #50 entry, in eighth. Aston Martin’s #007 car and Porsche’s #6 completed the top 10, in ninth and tenth, respectively.

LMGT3

For the second consecutive session, Lexus’ Akkodis ASP squad topped the timing boards for the LMGT3 classification with the #87 car setting the benchmark time, a . The team’s sister car, #78, that set the pace in FP1 rounded out the top three, sandwiching in the #59 United Autosports McLaren, who occupied second.

The #92 Manthey 1st Phorm Porsche was best of the rest, in fourth, ahead Ferrari’s Vista AF Corse and Ford’s #77 Mustang, belonging to Proton Competition, who finished fifth and sixth.

Iron Dames #85 Porsche completed second practice ahead of the two Aston Martin Vantage’s of the Heart of Racing Team and Racing Spirit of Le Man, who finished seventh, eight and ninth respectively.

Ferrari’s #54 Vista AF Corse completed the top 10, 0.545 seconds off the leading pace of Akkodis ASP.
