Ferrari continues to lead Le Mans 24 after 8 hours

AF Corse’s #83 car leads the 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of the #51 Ferrari AF Corse as the event completes its first quarter, under nightfall.

The sun dropped down, covering the iconic Circuit la Sarthe in a golden glow before it dipped below the horizon, shrouding the circuit in darkness, igniting the night phase of the 24-hour race.

After eight hours, Ferrari remains the leading manufacturer with the privateer AF Corse car, #83, driven by Philip Hanson, as the #51 works Ferrari car followed closely on their heels.

The #6 Porsche Penske at 15 seconds behind the leading two cars, in third overall, and third in the Hypercar class

Besides the Le Mans race remaining dry, with no rain expected, it was a well-behaved four hours, from our last four-hour report, with only minimal issues.

Cadillac’s #38, driven by 2009 Formula 1 World Champion, Jenson Button, had a water problem as a tube inside the car was leaking water. He was able to remove it from its holder to minimise the problem whilst he was driving.

However, there was a brief full-course yellow, with 18 hours and 21 minutes left on the clock, when the #95 United Autosports McLaren stopped on the Mulsanne Straight. The FCY was a brief one as the McLaren retired from the race.
