Isack Hadjar excited for first US F1 race at Miami GP

Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar has said that the upcoming Miami Grand Prix race will be exciting as it marks his first American Formula 1 race.

Racing Bull’s Hadjar has never raced in the United States of America and is said to be excited for the new challenge facing him this weekend.

The incoming sprint race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome will be his first race in the US – something he will repeat two more times this season, in Austin and Las Vegas. 

His appearance in Miami follows a successful triple header, last time out (Japan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia), as the Frenchman secured his maiden points at the Japanese Grand Prix, then took one more at the Saudi Arabian GP.

Ahead of the Miami GP, Hadjar has said that he is excited to race in the USA for the first time this weekend. He said: 

“This weekend will be my first time racing in the United States which means it’s definitely exciting.

“It’s going to be a massive week for our team and I’ve heard the atmosphere is great in Miami, so I’m looking forward to driving this track, as we have good momentum at the moment and I hope this will be another circuit that suits us, with a lot of slow speed corners. 

“It’s going to be very warm and I think we’re going to have a good shot at it.”

The team will also be entering the Miami Grand Prix with ‘renewed confidence’ according to Chief Technical Officer, Tim Goss, following a good outing in the triple header. 

Following on from Yuki Tsunoda’s promotion to Red Bull Racing, when Liam Lawson was demoted, Hadjar stands as the only driver to deliver points for the team so far. 

Despite the renewed confidence, the team are expecting the weekend to be challenging on the cars, drivers and tyres with the hot weather, but remain positive they can take points from both the Sprint and Grand Prix.

“The Miami track is a permanent circuit built on the streets surrounding the iconic Hard Rock Stadium. It is a challenging mix of some fast straights, high-speed corners and some tight sections around the stadium,” commented Goss. 

“It is a Sprint race weekend with two opportunities to bring back points and is likely to be hot, putting extra demands on the car, the tyres and the drivers. 

“We have renewed confidence from our recent performance and will give it our best shot to collect more points in both the Sprint and the race.”

Hadjar will be one of the rookies who will undertake their first grand prix in the United States this weekend.
