Verstappen has secured his second pole position at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit since its introduction in 2021. The reigning world champion pipped Piastri to the top spot, beating the McLaren by one-hundredth of a second.

The championship leader, Lando Norris, McLaren, was not able to set a lap time in the final third of qualifying as the Briton crashed into the barrier at turn five. The McLaren went in too hot and crashed out into the barrier.

As such, Norris will start the grand prix amongst the mid-pack in 10th whilst his closest rivals will start in first and second.

So, what does the provisional starting grid look like?

  1. Max Verstappen, Red Bull
  2. Oscar Piastri, McLaren
  3. George Russell, Mercedes
  4. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari
  5. Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes
  6. Carlos Sainz, Williams

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
