Just after three weeks since the Rallye Monte Carlo concluded, with Sebastien Ogier taking his 10th victory at the event, Hyundai is back in battle in the WRC next weekend.

Having finished on the podium, with the help of newcomer Adrien Fourmaux, Hyundai trails their championship rivals Toyota by 24 points in the manufacturer standings.

As such, the team are bringing a ‘redeveloped’ car to the second round of the championship.

Hyundai confirmed the car will retain its current Rally1 chassis but will feature ‘an overhaul in other areas,’ in a bid to maximise efficiency. The team have focused on the suspension layout and weight reduction with their upgrades.

In a statement, the team said:

“With a focus on suspension layout and weight reduction, the team has utilised several 2025 jokers in a bid to improve performance across the remainder of the season.”

As Hyundai are looking to take home a ‘solid result,’ according to Team Principal and Hyundai Motorsport President, Cyril Abiteboul, the team have conducted pre-event testing ahead of Rally Sweden.

In the test, taken place at their Finnish base, the team used Hankook’s Sweden-specific tyres building further data on the new tyre supplier following their 2025 debut in Monte Carlo.

Whilst Fourmaux goes into Sweden on the back of a podium finish in his first outing for the team, both Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville will be looking to regain their momentum after trouble in Monte.

Both world champions have taken wins and podium finishes at the event with three wins and nine podiums between them. They will be looking to bank on this experience as they go up against expanded driver entries with Toyota and M-Sport Ford

Ahead of the event, Abiteboul laid out the team’s target with expected discoveries from Hankook’s new studded tyres which will be in use next weekend. He said:

Neuville ready to make ‘most of it’ at Rally Sweden after troubled Monte Carlo

“After a generally positive weekend in Monte-Carlo, we’re now looking to take a step forward by claiming a strong result at Rally Sweden.

“Thierry and Ott are both former winners, so they will be looking to get their campaigns back on track after various challenges left them outside the podium positions in Monte-Carlo. And, we hope Adrien can keep the positive momentum from Monte-Carlo and continue his progression.

“We have some data on the new Hankook tyres from round one, but with the unique studded ice tyre being the only option available in Sweden, there will be plenty for us to discover in the challenging conditions.

“Our target is to claim a solid result for our three crews, which is key as they go up against expanded entries from both Toyota and M-Sport.”
