Adrian Newey’s future to be confirmed today?
10th September 2024The future of Adrian Newey, legendary Formula 1 designer, is rumoured to be announced by Aston Martin today during a press conference at its Silverstone base.

Newey announced he would leave Red Bull Racing in May earlier this year, following the fallout of Christian Horner’s allegations of inappropriate behaviour which were later dismissed – including the accuser’s appeal.
Following this, it was speculated that a few teams were vying for the technical guru’s signature with Ferrari the initial favourites to snatch up the British designer’s skill set. However, Aston Martin quickly joined the conversation.
Recently, Aston Martin has become the leading contender for Newey’s next stop in his legendary career which followed a reportedly secret meeting with the team and the 65-year-old, earlier on in the year, which gave Newey a tour of the team’s facility.
According to the BBC, Newey’s new chapter is expected to come with an eye-watering £30 million-per-year salary, including bonuses and add-ons.
This comes after team owner, Lawrence Stroll funded a state-of-the-art facility at the team’s headquarters in a bid to build Aston Martin into an F1 world championship contender.
The team have even scouted and brought in top talent to continue this vision with the arrival of Dan Fallows, plus the team have secured Honda-powered engines for the next set of regulations in 2026.
Aston Martin is set to host a press conference today, at 11am, at their Silverstone base where it is rumoured that the team will announce the arrival of Newey.
If Newey is announced with Aston Martin today, the British designer will not be able to work with the team until the first quarter of 2025.
