Buus secures Porsche Supercup title as King fiercely defends from ten Voorde in Italy

BWT Lechner Racing’s Harry King defended impressively against Team GP Elite’s Larry ten Voorde as the Briton’s teammate Bastian Buus secured the Porsche Supercup title.

How the race unfolded…

It was a good start from Harry King who darted over to the right-hand side to defend his track position from those behind. As such King managed to retain the lead as the first lap was completed.

However, drama quickly ensued as three different drivers crashed out at the opening chicane on the second lap, this also included the championship leader of BWT Lechner Racing’s Bastian Buus who rotated around on the run-off area of turn one.

Thankfully, the championship leader was able to continue on albeit at the back of the pack.

The safety car was quickly deployed. When the safety car quickly returned to the pit lane, it left Buus’ teammate Harry King to defend the race lead from Team GP Elite’s Larry ten Voorde in second.

The safety car was deployed once more as both Ombra S.R.L’s Marvin Klein, and Martinet by Almeras’s Alessandro Ghiretti were stopped out by the side of the circuit on lap eight.

Before the safety car was brought out, Buus had worked his way back up to 15th place after he overtook the stranded Ombra and Marinet by Almeras Porsche’s, with the fastest lap under his right foot.

At the end of lap 10, King got the race back underway with ten Voorde in tow.

When the pack finally reached the opening chicane there was chaos in the midfield which allowed Buus to gain some positions but the championship leader quickly lost ground at the Lesmo corners as he ran wide.

Despite ten Voorde’s best efforts, the Dutch driver could not find a way past King who, in turn, helped Buus obtain his maiden Porsche Supercup title as the Briton took the chequered flag as the race winner.

Ten Voorde and Huber Racing’s Simone Iaquinta completed the season finale podium in second and third respectively.

That’s it for the article: Buus secures Porsche Supercup title as King fiercely defends from ten Voorde in Italy!
