Porsche Supercup extends partnership with Formula 1
25th November 2022Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, will extend its contract with Formula 1 for another eight years – a new record for the sport’s term on a single contract.
The Porsche Supercup will continue to support Formula 1 weekends until 2030 as the one-make cup series extends its contract with its longest ever duration.
As a result, this means the sport will have supported the pinnacle of single-seater motorsports for nearly four decades.
Speaking of the news, in a press release, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, Thomas Laudenbach said:
“The Porsche Supercup has been a regular fixture on selected Formula 1 weekends since 1993. And this isn’t about to change: Both parties have agreed to an eight-years contract extension.
“This underlines the great level of trust that Formula 1 has put in our concept and our team, as much today as for the last 30 years.”
Ahead of the 2023 season, the one-make series will compete alongside the 375kw Porsche 9/11 GT3 Cup as part of their eight-race season. Both competitions will take place in the European legs of the F1 2023 season.
The season is set to begin in Imola, in May – when F1 returns for its seventh round of the championship (subject to China remaining on the calendar) – and will conclude in Monza, in September.
Formula 1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali said:
“For 30 years Porsche has been an important part of the Formula 1 weekend. I’m looking forward to continuing our long-standing relationship which delivers something special for our fans across our European season and beyond.
“It is yet another sign of our growth and influence as a platform that major brands want to continue to expand their relationships with us and the potential that is there for all our partners.”
