Williams Racing unveil FW45
6th February 2023Straight of the bat, Williams Racing shared no time to unveil their 2023 championship contender; the FW45, at the teams reveal launch.
The historic Formula 1 team became the third team to reveal their 2023 challenger ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain at the end of February, alongside Haas F1 and Red Bull Racing.
While the team showcased their 2023 design immediately, eagle-eyed viewers would have noticed a number of new sponsors plastered on the livery such as Gulf Oil, Stephens, Michelob ULTRA and PureStream.
Like Red Bull before them, on February 3, Williams have kept a similar design to their 2022 predecessor. It maintains the iconic dark blue colour with flashes of red and light blue but it has been given a matte finish which the team hopes will provide a ‘stronger on track visual.’
Despite a number of small changes to the livery design, the car itself has undergone some technical changes such as lifting the floor’s edge to satisfy the new-and-improved 2023 technical regulations.
However, the team have reported the 2023 car will be more aerodynamically efficient than its previous car providing more downforce and improved handling for the drivers.
Alexander Albon will return to the grid with Williams this season, in his second year with the team, but he will have a new teammate in Logan Sargeant who recently graduated from Formula 2 at the end of the 2022 season.
That’s all for the article; Williams Racing unveil FW45!
