Andreas Seidl takes over as Sauber Group CEO
13th December 2022McLaren’s Team Principle, Andreas Seidl will leave the team to replace Frederic Vasseur at Sauber ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season.
Following speculation of Mattia Binotto’s successor at Ferrari, Vasseur is set to leave his position at Sauber to replace the outgoing Team Principle at Maranello.
As such, current Mclaren Team Principle, Seidl, is set to replace the outgoing Vasseur as Sauber Group CEO.
It is reported, once Seidl takes up the mantle as Chief Executive Officer he will look to put a Team Principle in place ahead of Sauber’s transition into Audi – in 2026.
According to Alfa Romeo Sauber, the team will announce their new Team Principle in due course.
Following the announcement, Sauber Group CEO, Andreas Seidl said:
“It is great to join the Sauber Group from January: this is a team with a rich history in Formula One and an organisation I know really well from my time working and living in Hinwil for four years.
“I can’t wait to join the team and work with all the colleagues at the Sauber Group on the ambitious goals we have set together.
“I want to thank Finn Rausing and everyone at the Sauber Group for their choice: I am looking forward to repaying their trust with my work.”
Seidl will now return to Sauber, where he previously worked as Head of Trackside Operations for a number of years.
The former McLaren staff member previously held a team principle role at Porsche where he celebrated several world championships and three victories at the 24 hours of Le Mans in between 2015 and 2017.
Following the news of Seidl’s appointment, Sauber Holding AG Chairman of the Board of Directors, Finn Rausing said:

“Andreas’s experience is second to none and he brings to Sauber Group a clear understanding of what is required to achieve sustained success.
