F1 Pro Championship: Blakeley leads five-way battle in season finale

14th December 2022 0 By Kamron Kent

McLaren Shadow’s Lucas Blakely heads a five-way battle for top honours as the F1 Esports Pro Championship enters its final event of 2022.

In his first season with McLaren Shadow, Blakeley will look to maintain his position on the top spot of the F1 Pro Championship. However, he will have to contend with four other drivers for those honours; Thomas Ronhaar (Haas), Bari Boroumand (Mclaren), Frederik Rasmussen (Red Bull) and Jarno Opmeer (Mercedes).

Compared to the remaining drivers, Opmeer holds a significant disadvantage to defend his world title going into the event. After two back-to-back wins, in event three, the Dutch driver will need to secure wins in all three rounds to keep his title for a third year.

However, Opmeer’s chances come down to Blakeley finishing third or lower in the remaining races.

Going into the finale, Blakley has maintained his position at the top of the order with 132 points to his name, ahead of second placed Ronhaar on 121pts.

While they remain in contention, Boroumand (118pts), Rasmussen (115pts) and Opmeer (110pts) are separated by eight points contesting third, fourth and fifth – respectively – in the drivers standings.

The first event takes place around Suzuka’s (Japan) iconic circuit on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. The event is the only one which differs from the rest, this week, as F1’s qualifying stream gets underway at 2pm (GMT) and the race stream starts at 5:30pm (GMT).

Brazil’s Interlagos sets the scene for the following event, on Thursday, December 15, 2022. The qualifying stream will return to its usual time slot of 3:30pm (GMT) ahead of the main event at 7:30pm (GMT).

The grand finale to the 2022 Esports Pro Championship will be set around the sports, usual real-life final venue, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, on Friday, December 16, 2022. In a similar motion to Brazil’s race, the qualifying stream is scheduled to start at 3:30pm (GMT) with the race stream starting at 7:30pm.

All of the action will be available across all of F1’s social media channels on; YouTube, Twitch, Huya and Facebook (Race-only).
