Racing Bulls looking to continue ‘strong form’ at Austrian Grand Prix

Racing Bull’s Team Principal, Alan Permane, says they will be looking to continue their strong form at this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, a ‘home race’ of sorts for the squad.

Racing Bull’s has enjoyed a string of point-scoring weekends, spanning from Canada to Barcelona, with the two most recent events, Monaco and Barcelona, finishing with double point-scoring finishes for both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

Both drivers finished the last three events with points added to their tallies, but Lawson is on a three-grand prix streak of scoring points after Lindblad retired from the Canadian GP with a clutch problem, despite picking up a point in the Canadian sprint.

With their latest upgrade package, their car has proven it can secure points on a range of different circuits; as such, Permane states the team heads into Austria with confidence. He said:

“The Austrian GP is one that we look forward to at Racing Bulls, it’s very much a ‘home’ race for us and we are always given a special welcome by the everyone from the area.

“We will of course aim to continue our run of strong form, with double points finishes in the previous two races, we are raring to go.

“The VCARB 03, with its latest updates, has proved to work well on a variety of circuit types and we head to Austria with confidence, knowing that if we put a strong weekend together, we can come away with more points.”

Permane has expressed the need for a ‘quick car’ to tackle the Austrian Red Bull Ring, claiming a car needs to have good braking, traction, turn-in stability, as well as a good front end as the drivers tackle the 4.3km circuit.

The iconic circuit produces one of the shortest lap times on the calendar, sitting in amongst the Styrian mountains, with three straights connected by right-hand corners, with technical middle and final sectors. The asphalt is several years old, which will provide thermal degradation for Pirelli’s softest tyre range that they will bring this weekend.

“A quick car here will have good braking and traction combined with good turn-in stability and a strong front end for the final two right-hand corners,” Permane continued.

“Pirelli will bring their softest tyres in the 2026 range and with very high ambient temperatures forecast, with clear skies, we can expect high track temperatures, making the need for race preparation work on Friday a high priority.”
