During the week’s break between the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix, F1 has confirmed it remains on target to achieve its Net Zero target, set for 2030.

The sport confirmed in the latest report that it has seen a 35% reduction compared to its 2018 baseline. F1 has also seen emissions saved across its freight, logistics, broadcast and race operation functions, which have reduced by 12% compared to 2024.

Meaning travel emissions have been reduced by 27% since 2018, helped by teams’ investments in sustainable aviation fuel and F1’s remote broadcast operations.

On the news, Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said:

“At Formula 1, we act and show our achievements through facts, not just words, and I am incredibly proud that we remain on track to achieve net zero by 2030, made possible by the collective effort across the sport to reduce our environmental impact.

“From calendar rationalisation to greater investment in sustainable fuels and alternative energy solutions, we have reduced our footprint while the sport continues to grow and reach new audiences around the world.”

In addition to the sports fight against its carbon footprint, F1 has also reported their F1 teams, which, according to the report, consist of 10 teams, minus Cadillac, saw a 64% reduction in their factory and facility emissions. This is 64% less than 2018 and 14% less than 2024.

For the first time in the sport’s history, its freight operations all have lower carbon solutions in effect across all of its main freight modes, including land, air and sea. This has been helped by the sport, FIA and F1 teams doubling their sustainable aviation fuels year-on-year.

As a result, they have seen an approximation of 40% reduction in relation to air-charter emissions.
