At the end of the 2024 season, Perez said farewell to the paddock when it was announced that he was axed from Red Bull Racing following a string of disappointing results from the six-time race winner.
Even though the Mexican driver was not able to secure a late seat to remain on the grid in 2025, reports suggest that he has secured a seat with Cadillac.
According to PlanetF1.com, Perez has reportedly ‘reached an agreement’ with the former Red Bull driver, and an announcement is expected around the Italian Grand Prix.
While Perez’s late performances at Red Bull could be seen negatively, in terms of performance, the recent struggles of Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, in the second car, have further highlighted Red Bull’s problems.
If Perez is confirmed for a seat in 2026, it will mark an end to a year on the sidelines, and the attention will quickly focus on the second vacant seat that remains up for grabs.
Valtteri Bottas is speculated to be in contention for the second seat, even teasing it on social media, but reports suggest the second seat will go to a rookie driver rather than a second-experienced driver.
