Weather Report: the latest ahead of MotoGP Austrian GP
11th August 2025MotoGP heads to Spielberg for the 13th round of the championship, at the Austrian Grand Prix, and it looks to be a wet weekend.

MotoGP heads to the iconic Red Bull Ring, in Spielberg, for the next round of the championship, remaining in Europe as the ninth consecutive race in the continent.
Last time out, the dominant championship leader, Marc Marquez, of the Ducati Lenovo Team, secured victory in the Grand Prix of Czechia ahead of Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia, of the Ducati Lenovo Team.
As such, Marquez has extended his commanding championship lead after 12 rounds to 381 points, 120 points ahead of BK8 Gresini’s Alex Marquez.
It is expected to be a wet weekend in Austria, according to BBC Weather, so what is the weather expected to be like?
Friday
It looks like a dry start to the weekend with Free Practice 1 getting underway in sunny conditions, which will continue into the following practice session.
Temperatures will start in FP1 at 23° but will increase up to 30° ahead of second practice. There is no chance of rain until second practice, where the chance increases up to 24%
Saturday
It is forecast to be a dry start to the second day of action, with sunny conditions expected during Free Practice 2, and these conditions are expected to continue into qualifying.
However, for the sprint race, the conditions are expected to get a bit wet with light rain showers expected at 3pm, for the 14-lap sprint.
Temperatures will start at 22° for FP2, increasing to 24° by the end of qualifying, and increasing up to 28° for the sprint. The chance of rain begins at zero for practice and qualifying, but increases to 55% for the sprint.
Sunday
Sunday is forecast to be a wet one ahead of the Austrian main event. Light rain showers are on the radar for the Warm Up session and will remain in the area for the Grand Prix at 2pm local time.
However, it’s still expected to be a warm day with temperatures starting at 18° for the warm-up before increasing to 25° for the race. The chance of rain remains steady across the day, with it holding at 34% for the first MotoGP session and holding at 34% for the race.
