Oscar Piastri tops final practice at F1 Hungary GP
2nd August 2025McLaren’s Oscar Piastri topped the timing board in the final hour of practice at the Hungarian Grand Prix, ahead of teammate Lando Norris, around the iconic Hungaroring.

It has been a clean sweep of fastest laps for the Woking-based team as Piastri has secured his first fastest lap time of the weekend, in Free Practice 3, after a sweep of fastest laps across FP1 and FP2 by Norris, on Friday.
Conditions remained dry and sunny at the Hungaroring as the two McLarens and Aston Martins pulled out onto the circuit, just after the session started to scrub sets of tyres. However, when the final hour got busy, McLaren were setting fastest laps with the occasional Ferrari or Mercedes pipping their time.
By the end of the hour, the two McLarens cemented their position at the top of the timing sheets with Norris trailing his championship-leading teammate by 0.032s.
Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar brought out the double-waved yellow flags, halfway through the session, as the Frenchman ran over the kerb just before the pit entry, which sent the Rookie driver into a spin. Hadjar was able to continue without further issues but he was fortunate not to be spat across the circuit and into the barrier.
Red Bull’s drivers were not happy with their respective machinery as the four-time world champion, Max Verstappen, complained of understeer in his RB21, whilst Tsunoda wasn’t happy with his car and told his engineer to ‘wake up.’
