After an hour and 20 minutes, thanks to wet conditions, the Belgian race finally got underway behind the safety car, around the historic Spa-Francorchamps.

Norris led the pack for four laps behind the safety car, but on the first racing lap, Piastri snatched away the race lead at the end of the Kemmel Straight. From there, the two McLarens did not look under pressure as they edged away from the trailing pack.

By the chequered flag, Piastri finished ahead of Norris as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium in third.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a recovery drive to seventh place after starting in the pit lane due to a change under parc ferme conditions.

In the wet conditions, the seven-time world champion cut through the field, but he mellowed out as the conditions transitioned to dry, remaining behind Williams’ Alexander Albon by the chequered flag.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
