The Belgian Grand Prix hosted the third sprint race of the season at the historic Spa-Francorchamps, where the drivers circled the 7km circuit 15 times before the chequered flag fell.

Verstappen managed to defend brilliantly to secure victory against two fast-paced McLarens behind, with the top three separated by just over a second.

However, it wasn’t as simple for another team down the grid: Alpine.

Ahead of the sprint, it was confirmed that Franco Colapinto would start the race from the pit lane after a change to the Argentine’s front wing. Then their leading driver, Pierre Gasly, also had a problem on the way to the grid.

It was reported that the Frenchman had a suspected water leak and was pushed off the grid, where he was originally planned to start eighth, and pushed into the garage.

Gasly later joined the race, in clean air, behind the pack, albeit two laps down behind the leader.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
