Toyota to debut GR Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept at Rally Finland
8th July 2025Toyota has confirmed that they will debut the GR Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept, a hydrogen-based-engine rally car, at Rally Finland at the end of July.

Toyota announced on Tuesday that they plan to debut their Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept at this year’s Rally Finland, following its development to become one of the possible options for motorsports’ future.
It follows the global motorsport ambition to be carbon-neutral, like Formula 1’s target to be Net Zero by 2030.
The car has been developed at the rally team’s headquarters in Jyväskylä, Finland, and has been tested on the local roads with runs on similar conditions to those used in Rally Finland.
Toyota have confirmed the car will be showcased on the Harju stage, the event-opening stage on Thursday and Friday’s 10th stage, driven by four-time world champion Juha Kankkunen.
The car will use the Yaris Rally2 chassis and has been fitted with an internal combustion engine, which will be fuelled by compressed hydrogen, and it will deliver near-zero emissions. For the rally fans, the car will still retain the much-loved rallying sounds and sensations.

The motor giant, Toyota, has been developing hydrogen-engine run cars such as the Corolla since 2021, in the Super Taikyu series in Japan, and it has been under development since.
In the following year, the hydrogen engine was demonstrated in Europe for the first time, in Belgium, when the experimental GR Yaris H2 made an appearance, driven by Akio Toyoda and Kankkunen.
Jari-Matti Latvala, the Team Principal for Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, is one of the drivers who have raced with the innovative powertrain and have provided feedback to help its development.
Toyota’s hydrogen concept will also be showcased in the service park during the Rally Finland, alongside the likes of the Toyota Mirai and Tundra.
