Ott Tanak give Hyundai first WRC win of 2025 in Rally Greece
29th June 2025Hyundai’s Ott Tanak has given the team their first victory in the World Rally Championship this season, after a dominant performance at the Acropolis Rally Greece.

Toyota have finally been beaten for the first time this season, after seven rounds since the championship began in 2025 back in January, at Monte Carlo, by the hands of Tanak.
Tanak seized the rally lead back on Friday, on the penultimate stage of the day, Stage 6: Stiri, and the Estonian driver did not let go for the rest of the event. The Hyundai driver secured his first stage win on Stage 8: Pavliani and went on to secure six more stage wins on his way to victory.
He was kept true by Toyota’s Sebastien Ogier, who led the charge for the Japanese manufacturer. The eight-time world champion was once the rally leader until Tanak took over. However, the Frenchman was not able to mount an attack to topple the Estonian.
Ogier had taken second place, his final position at the end of the weekend, from Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux after the French driver clipped a bank on stage 10, costing him over a minute. The Hyundai dropped and remained third.
Toyota’s championship leader finished the event in fourth place, maintaining his championship lead. However, Ogier’s second place now puts him within reach of the championship lead.
Evans will now sit on 150 points but Ogier is nine points behind the Welshman whilst the Rally Greece winner, Tanak, sits 12 points behind the leading Toyota.
Next up will be the Rally Estonia, next month, on July 17 – 20.
