Tanak on verge of Rally Greece victory ahead of Ogier
29th June 2025Hyundai’s Ott Tanak is on the verge of securing his and the teams first victory of the World Rally Championship 2025 season, with only the power stage left to go.

After three stages on Sunday, Tanak continues to lead the Greek rally ahead of the important Wolf Power Stage, which will take place on the second pass of Tarzan. The Estonian heads the rally over Toyota’s Sebastien Ogier by 48.8 seconds.
The day has not been without issues so far for the competitors.
Toyota’s Takamoto Katsuta suffered a small half spin on Sunday’s opening stage, SS14: Smokovo.
The Japanese driver had to retreat back down the road to correct the direction of his Rally1 Yaris. He finished the 14th stage just over a minute behind Tanak’s stage-winning time.
Katsuta’s teammate, Kalle Rovanpera, suffered a rear-left puncture on the following stage, Tarzan, and the stop cost the two-time world champion two minutes as they replaced the tyre.
In the penultimate stage, Smokovo 2, Katsuta took an early check-in and took to the stage ahead of Rovanpera. Both drivers went on a tyre-saving stint across the 26.1km test, finishing over a minute off the leading time, set by Ogier (20m 58.8s).
Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville had his own problems, compounding a troublesome Greek rally. His Hyundai Rally1 suffered technical issues and had to stop on the stage to reset his car, as it took itself out of stage mode. When the Belgian reached the end, he advised he was losing power ‘all the time.’
The defending world champion has now stopped on the road section as the Belgian crew get to work on their troubles.
The final stage of the event, the Tarzan Wolf Power Stage, will get underway at 2:15pm local time (12:15pm BST).
