Spain stands as the last race weekend of the European triple header, which consisted of Imola, Monaco and Spain, before the sport heads across the Atlantic for the Canadian Grand Prix in the next two weeks.

The upcoming grand prix also marks a new technical directive which will be brought into the championship going forward from this race, as the FIA clamp down on flexi-wings. This new directive is expected to cause a shift in the pecking order as the sport progresses to the end of the current regulations.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri remains the championship leader heading into Barcelona, but the Australian’s advantage has been cut down following Lando Norris’ victory in Monaco last time out.

The two teammates are only separated by three points going into the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with McLaren continuing to dominate the constructors’ championship with 319 points to their name.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
