Norris claimed his 11th career pole position around the Principality of Monaco, and it marks his second pole of the season after the Australian Grand Prix season opener.

Initially, it looked as if Leclerc had the edge in the final runs of Q3 after topping all three practice sessions of the weekend, but the McLaren driver managed to pip the home hero by a tenth of a second.

Neither Mercedes driver would set a timed lap in Q2 after Kimi Antonelli crashed at the end of Q1 and George Russell suffered terminal technical issues in the tunnel section.

Despite a thrilling end to qualifying, the order was yet to be confirmed as Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll were set to be investigated for impeding other drivers.

It was found that both drivers had impeded their fellow competitors, with Hamilton impeding Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, while Stroll impeded Alpine’s Pierre Gasly

Both were handed three-place grid penalties, with Stroll already set to serve an additional place for causing a collision in FP1.

Haas’ Oliver Bearman also joins the list of drivers to serve a grid penalty, as the Briton will serve a 10-place drop for a red flag infringement in FP2

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
