Weather report: the latest ahead of F1 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
12th May 2025Formula One heads to Europe for the first time in 2025 for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, but what is the expected weather report?

After a week’s break, following the Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 returns to ignite the world championship’s European leg with the season’s second triple header.
Imola will kick-start the European triple header with the Emilia-Romagna GP before the sport passes through Monaco and Spain, respectively. However, a new regulation change will be coming at the end of this triple header, clamping down on flexi-wings.
Unlike Miami, a sprint race weekend, the sport will return to its traditional format with Free Practice 1 and 2 on Friday, Free Practice 3 and qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday.
According to the Met Office, F1’s first European race of 2025 looks to be a dry weekend and a warm one.
Friday
On the opening day of the weekend, F1 will reportedly miss the rain forecasted in the early hours of the morning. When FP1 gets underway, at 1:30pm local time, sunny intervals are expected before the sun comes out fully for FP2.
The chance of rain starts off at 70% at 2am, but by the time the official sessions start, it will drop to 10% for both practice hours. Temperatures are set to stay steady at 18°, the hottest it will get all day.
Saturday
The conditions will remain similar on Saturday with clouds and sunny intervals around the start time of FP3, and sunny conditions for qualifying.
However, there is a chance of rain with the early forecast predicting a 30% of rain heading up to 2pm before it drops away to 20%. Temperatures in Imola will rise from 17° at 11am up to a steady heat of 19° by 5pm.
Sunday
There is a 40% chance of rain around the start of the Emilia-Romagna GP – starting at 2pm local time – but it will drop down to 10% as the race progresses.
Despite this, the forecast shows sunny intervals before improving to sunny conditions. The temperature will be an all-time high for this race weekend, increasing up to 20° for the race start.
