Ferrari leads WEC 6 Hour Spa-Francorchamps ahead of Alpine
10th May 2025Ferrari leads the way around the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the World Endurance Championships’ 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, ahead of Alpine.

It’s been a fairly well-behaved opening hour to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as Ferrari’s pole sitter, their #50 car, driven by Nicklas Nielsen, continues to lead the way for the Hypercar classification.
However, the Ferrari team are kept honest by Alpine’s #36 car, driven by Frederic Makowiecki, which is keeping the iconic team honest as the French team moved up to second from ninth on the grid.
Alpine’s track position was secured after a drag race with the #51 Ferrari down into Eau Rouge. Although the Ferrari tried to defend, the #36 Alpine kept his foot in and out-raced the Ferrari into Eau Rouge/Radillion.
Despite a clean run through La Source, at the start, trouble crept in at Les Combes as the Cadillac, driven by Sebastien Bourdais, snapped around the #5 Porsche. The former took a drive-through penalty for the opening incident as the latter rejoined at the back of the hypercar class.
After 25 minutes, when the Hypercar class approached the LMGT3 backmarkers for a second time, the #7 Toyota – Mike Conway – pitted in an unscheduled stop thanks to a puncture.
The Full Course Yellow was deployed – briefly – in the last 10 minutes of the first hour as the #99 Proton Hypercar was pushed into the run-off area at Les Combes. The Proton continued without further issue.
When the FCY was lifted, shortly after, the hypercar category followed suit of the LMGT3’s and slowly pitted. When the top two – #50 Ferrari and #36 Alpine – pitted, the race leaders stopped and returned without losing track position, in first and second, respectively.
The #83 AF Corse was pulled into the garage, near the end of the first hour, with mechanical problems forcing the team to pit for repairs.
A total of 27 laps were completed by the leading #50 Ferrari at the end of the first hour, ahead of the #36 Alpine and #51 Ferrari.
Additionally, the #46 Team WRT – in their BMW M M4 – led the GT3 class ahead of the #88 Proton Competition’s Ford Mustang and Manthey 1st Phrom’s #92 Porsche, in second and third.
