Polesitter Piastri looked to be unchallenged all weekend after the Australian put in a superb drive out front to easily secure the win, as his teammate, Lando Norris, secured a podium finish to retain the championship lead.

Mercedes’ George Russell suffered various technical problems with his car throughout the race, but the Mercedes driver still managed to secure second place.

However, it wasn’t smooth sailing for some down the order as Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg was disqualified from the race for excessive wear on the skid plate.

It was found that Hulkenberg’s car was under 9mm, the minimum thickness of the skidplate; 8.4mm on the left and right hand side with a centerline thickness of 8.5mm.

Williams’ Carlos Sainz was the only retirement of the weekend after he had contact with Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda, which punched a hole in the Spaniard’s sidepod.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
