Perez has been heavily linked to get the axe at the end of the 2024 season, with it starting mid-season as his run of form dipped in the first half of the year, but the team have now confirmed he will leave after four seasons.
Following the season finale, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, heavy speculation revolved around the Mexican’s position within the team as it was expected he would leave ahead of the upcoming season.
This was confirmed on Wednesday as the team announced they agreed to part ways. On X, they said:
“After four successful seasons together, Sergio Pérez and Oracle Red Bull Racing have reached an agreement to part ways for 2025.”
Gracias por todo Checo 💙

This followed a poor season for the #11 Red Bull driver, who slumped to eighth in the drivers’ standings, whereas his teammate Max Verstappen won the title.
Due to Perez’s lack of form, he was one of the reasons Red Bull failed to secure the world constructors championship. They finished third behind winners McLaren and Ferrari (second-place). Across the 24-race season, Perez only took home a total of 152 points, while his championship-winning teammate secured a total of 437 points.
Following the announcement, Perez released his own statement on X, he said:
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team. Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience, and I’ll always cherish the success we achieved together.
“We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way.
“A big thank you to every person in the team from management, engineers and mechanics; catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes. I wish you all the best for the future.
“It’s also been an honour to race alongside Max as a Teammate all these years and to share in our success.
“A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon.”

With six wins to his name, starting from the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix and securing wins in; Azerbaijan (twice), Monaco, Singapore and Saudia Arabia, Perez stands as the most successful Mexican Formula 1 driver in the sports history.
It is yet to be announced on who will replace Perez at the team but reports suggest Liam Lawson is the favourite to partner up alongside Verstappen in 2025.
