Who Finished Where: F1 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Lando Norris secured the race win giving McLaren their first world title since 1998, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but where did everyone else finish?

That’s it, the 2024 Formula 1 season has come to an end. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has secured the driver’s world championship, back in Las Vegas, whilst McLaren took constructors glory in Abu Dhabi.

It was an entertaining 58-lap race to end the season with drama starting straight off the bat with Verstappen spinning Oscar Piastri on the start, and Kick Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas spinning Red Bull’s Sergio Perez further on in the lap. 

So with McLaren taking constructor glory over Ferrari, who finished where in the 2024 season finale? 

Norris took a well-controlled victory at the Yas Marina Circuit with both Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finishing behind him, in second and third. Despite the two Ferraris completing the podium, it did not stop McLaren from taking the title as 14 points separated the two championship contenders. 

The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton – who will replace Sainz at Ferrari next season – and George Russell completed the top five drivers in fourth and fifth respectively.

The 2024 drivers world champion, Verstappen, was the only surviving Red Bull one the race after Perez was forced to retire on the first lap following the collision with Bottas who later retired. The Dutchman finished the race in sixth ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Haas’ departing Nico Hulkenberg who finished seventh and eighth. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Piastri completed the top 10 respectively. 

Williams’ Alexander Albon finished just outside the points in 11th whereas his teammate, Franco Colapinto who ended his stint after replacing Logan Sargeant earlier this season, retired from the race.

This left Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda to finish 12th ahead of teammate, Liam Lawson, who completed the 17 cars which completed the race. Kick Sauber’s Guanyu Zhou, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, Alpine’s Jack Doohan and Haas’ Kevin Magnussen sandwiched in between the two VCARB drivers in 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th respectively. 

Formula 1 will return on March 14, 2025, for the Australian Grand Prix (March 16, 2025) which will return as the sports season opener after the pre-season test in Bahrain.
