Earlier this season, Verstappen was charged a community service penalty for swearing in a press conference at the 2024 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix where he said his car was ‘f***ed’ at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The FIA took a dim view of his use of language and the stewards gave Verstappen a penalty for ‘use of unacceptable language’ where he was mandated to complete “work of public interest.”
Ahead of the upcoming FIA Prize Giving Gala, Verstappen will be in Kigali, Rwanda, to collect his fourth consecutive world drivers championship trophy which he sealed in Las Vegas. As such, with the four-time world champion being in-country, he will complete his punishment there.

According to the FIA, F1’s governing body said Verstappen “will undertake some work with junior competitors” as part of Motorsport Rwanda’s grassroots development programme.
The FIA, in a social media post on X, said:
“The activity will involve an FIA Affordable Cross Car which was built locally in Rwanda by the RAC from blueprints provided by the FIA. Design blueprints for the Level 2 category Affordable Cross Car project have been delivered to the global network of 147 National Sporting Authorities (ASNs).”
The punishment follows the FIA’s President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s clampdown on the drivers and their use of language. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was subject to a fine for swearing after the Mexico City Grand Prix, escaping the FIA’s equivalent of community service.
It will also mark the second time Verstappen has been made to complete FIA-sanctioned community service after he had an altercation with Haas-inbound driver, Esteban Ocon at the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2018.
