Leonardo Fornaroli seals F3 title with last-lap pass at Italian GP feature race
1st September 2024Trident’s Leonardo Fornaroli has sealed the Formula 3 world championship after a last-lap dive at Parabolica, at Monza.

The last race of the Formula 3 World Championship of 2024, held at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, was a six-horse race to secure the world championship at the end of the weekend.
However, it was Fornaroli who secured the title in a last-lap move at Parabolica on Christian Mansell.
On the final lap, of the 22-lap race, Gabrielle Mini – a championship contender – was in championship-winning position with Mansell in third whilst Fornaroli was fourth.
In a last-ditch effort to take the title, the Trident driver made an ambitious lunge into Parabolica to take the final podium position – and the title. Mansell gave Fornaroli racing room mid-corner and ran wide, allowing the Italian to pass on by.
As a result of his third-place finish, followed by Mini’s second place, it grants the title to the Italian Trident driver by two points.
He also becomes the first driver in F3 to secure the title without winning a single race having secured one second-place and six third-place finishes – including the season finale.
