Lindblad takes home victory at British GP in rescheduled F3 Sprint

Prema Racing’s Arvid Lindblad secured the victory at his home race after the Formula 3 Sprint race was rescheduled due to poor weather conditions.

Formula 3’s sprint race was expected to start at 9:20am local time but the supporting category was forced to reschedule as a result of poor weather conditions.

As the pack were heading to the grid, from the Support Paddock, a handful of drivers veered off the circuit due to the soaking conditions into Stowe. It was soon deemed unsafe to race in the conditions.

After just under six hours from when the Formula 3 Sprint Race was meant to be conducted, the sprint finally got away at 6pm local time after Formula 1 completed qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

When the session went lights out, Lindblad led the pack from start to finish to secure his third F3 race victory but his first on home soil.

It wasn’t without issue for the eventual winner as both the Virtual Safety Car and the full Safety Car were deployed throughout the race duration.Behind Lindblad, Van Amsersfoort Racing’s Noel Leon and Jenzer Motorsport’s Matias Zagazeta completed the top three, in second and third respectively.

Although the race winner took victory from reverse grid pole at the F3 sprint, Lindblad will start Sunday’s feature race from 11th on the grid.  He will find himself sandwiched in between the podium-finishers Zagazeta and Leon who start in 10th and 12th respectively.
