The last time Hamilton took the chequered flag as the race winner was back at the famous 2021 F1 championship when he secured victory at the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
From there, following the infamous Abu Dhabi 2021, Hamilton has seen two winless seasons as the sport entered the new ground-affect era.
However, at the 2024 British GP that drought came to an end with Hamilton securing his ninth consecutive victory at the British race, more than any other driver in the sports history at a single circuit.
The seven-time world champion started on the front row, having qualified second, behind two-time race winner George Russell. When the race started, the former world champion filtered in behind and Mercedes ran 1-2.
However, the weather started to impact the running order as the rain fell forcing drivers to go onto the intermediate tyres.
When the race went from wet-to-dry both Hamilton and Verstappen pitted for slick tyres, on lap 39, followed by Norris a lap later. Although Verstappen charged up to second after he overtook Norris, on lap 48, into Stowe.
However, there were not enough laps left in the race to allow the reigning champion to steal the victory away from Hamilton.
In the end, Hamilton secured the win ahead of Verstappen and Norris who completed the podium in second and third respectively.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
