The seven-time world champion has set a brand new F1 precedent as the first driver to break the 300 race start ‘curse,’ securing his 104th race win at the 2024 British Grand Prix.
In the history of Formula 1, no driver has ever undertaken 300 race starts in the sport and found themselves on the top spot of the podium.
The last time Hamilton took the chequered flag as the race winner was back in the famous 2021 F1 championship when he secured victory at the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
That race, in all its entertaining wheel-to-wheel glory, was Hamilton’s 287th grand prix race start. The multiple world champion finally obtained his 300th race start at the 2022 French Grand Prix.

Despite changeable conditions at Silverstone on Sunday, Hamilton went on to secure his 104th career victory on his 344th race start.
Only six drivers have ever reached this milestone, five of them were F1 world champions including; Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.
Only Rubens Barrichello secured the over 300 race starts (323 starts) without a championship under his belt.
Here is a list of when the other five drivers, who started over 300 grand prix, won their most recent race and what race number it was in their career:
Fernando Alonso – Spain 2013 at race start #203
Kimi Raikkonen – USA 2018 at race start #289
Rubens Barrichello – Italy 2009 at race start #281
Michael Schumacher – China 2006 at race start #247
Jenson Button: Brazil 2012 at race start #228
