After a turbulent set of race weekends following his contract renewal with Red Bull Racing, Sergio Perez has encountered another Q1 elimination at the British Grand Prix.

The Mexican driver went to set a fast lap on the dry, slick soft compound tyres but lost control on entry to Copse Corner.

Perez managed to regain control temporarily but due to the damp run-off area, he lost control once more. He rotated around on the runoff and skipped over the gravel trap.

Unable to move, Perez was not able to rejoin qualifying meaning this is the Mexican’s third Q1 elimination of the season.

Before the red flag, the #11 Red Bull sat in 11th as all of the drivers had set their fastest lap times on the intermediate tyres.

However, as the rain remained at bay it meant the drivers could set faster laps on the soft compound tyres. In the end it meant Perez was demoted down to 19th, only ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

Ahead of the session, the rain had fallen which brought out a damp start to qualifying for the session forcing all the drivers to start on the intermediates.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
