Aston Martin reveal AMR24 as they hunt for their ‘first win in green’

Aston Martin F1 have revealed their challenger for the 2024 season, the AMR24, as the team targets their ‘first race win in green.’

Aston Martin has revealed, on Monday, February 12, their 2024 championship challenger which retains its iconic British racing green colour scheme.

Last year was an impressive season for the Silverstone-based team as they secured eight podiums, at the hands of Fernando Alonso who secured his best finish of second-place three times in Monaco, Canada and the Netherlands.

As a collective, Alonso and Lance Stroll secured 280 points for the team with the two-time world champion taking home the majority of the points (206).

With a ‘strong and exciting evolution’ from last year’s model, according to Aston Martin, their Team Principal Mike Krack has set the team’s targets for regular points, podiums and their first win. He said:

“We are proud to debut the AMR24. It is the result of a huge effort by the whole team at our new AMR Technology Campus and it will allow the team to take another step forward in 2024.

“Since the last race in 2023, everyone has been hyper-focused on improvements in every area, concentrating our efforts on what really makes a difference, what really matters to be better. Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths and taking on board the lessons of the previous campaign.

“2023 was our best season to date and our goal this season is to score regular points, podiums, and fight for our first win in green.”

The 2024 car has evolved its design philosophy which catapulted the team to the front end of the field last year. Not a lot has been carried over from last season with most parts of the car being new for the upcoming campaign.

One notable change AMR24 will have is a push-rod suspension for both the front and rear of the car.

According to the team, the decision to change the front has come in to improve performance alongside the front wing and the floor.

The rear suspension change will support and maximise the efficiency of airflow around the rear wing and Mercedes’ power unit and gearbox – maintaining their customer status with the works team.

“I am incredibly proud of this team and what has been achieved in such a short space of time,” said two-time world champion Alonso. “Not only the progress on the track, but the investment in all areas off-track at the AMRTC.

“I always enjoy this feeling at the start of a new campaign, with this season marking my 21st as a racing driver in Formula One.

“The whole team has worked flat-out on getting the AMR24 ready for the new season, but there are so many questions to answer in testing and the first few races. I am excited to get in the cockpit and start my second season in green.”

That’s all for the article; Aston Martin reveal AMR24 as they hunt for their ‘first win in green’!
