Alpine revealed its 2024 championship contenders in a dual F1 and WEC launch

Alpine revealed their two cars which will compete in the Formula One and the World Endurance Championship, at their Alpine Motorsports launch event.

The Alpine brand revealed their two championship contenders, the A524 F1 car and the A424 Hypercar class race car, at their Motorsport Launch at its Enstone site.

For the F1 side of the team, their team will prepare for the gruelling 24-race season with Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly returning for another year behind the helm of their respective cars. Jack Doohan will retain his place as the team’s reserve driver.

The car will keep a livery similar to last season, evolving it from its 2023 edition. This allows the team to remain eye-catching with its Alpine-blue, red and white combination with black at its core.

“It goes without saying that I am super excited for the season and I cannot wait to jump back in the car and go racing again. This time of the year is exciting as it is the moment we see what the team has produced,” Esteban Ocon said.  “I have seen drawings, been on the simulator but, obviously, not yet seen or sampled the complete, real thing.

“That will wait until shakedown but it’s a nice moment for the team as it’s the culmination of thousands of hours of hard work. As a driver, it’s a goosebumps moment when you jump in a new car for the first time and release the pit limiter. That time is close now with the A524 and I really cannot wait to get started.”

For their WEC car, the Hypercar-class racing machine will keep similar colours to its F1 sister, maintaining a sense of uniformity across the two motorsport disciplines.

The 2024 Endurance championship will mark the team’s first season in the hypercar category as a factory team. Both Nicolas Lapierre and Matthieu Vaxiviere will drive the car with Mick Schumacher completing the three-driver line-up.

The A424 will head to Qatar for the season prologue and first race of the WEC season, later this month.

“We are writing the next lines of the history of Alpine in Endurance. We must be humble, but ambitious for our project. We experienced big changes and a huge step forward as a team,” Alpine Endurance Team, Team principal Philippe Sinault said.

“To reveal our Hypercar for the 2024 season alongside our drivers is truly a special moment.

“We will learn to use the technical package, rely on our drivers’ experience, be reliable and, of course, finish the races. I think it’s difficult to say if we will go for the win this year, but we are hungry for good results, and expecting to shine quickly with everything we have put in place.”

For eight races the F1 car will be dominantly pink, to highlight their partnership with the Mondsee-based BWT company which enters its third season with the team.

In Formula 1, the newly-rebranded Visa Cash App RB F1 team will reveal all at their Las Vegas event on February 8.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
