Alpha Tauri rebranded to Visa Cash App RB ahead of 2024 season

Alpha Tauri rebranded to ‘Visa Cash App RB’ following the teams announcement, ahead of the 2024 Formula One world championship.

Speculation was ignited in 2023 after it was reported that the Faenza-based squad, and sister team to Red Bull Racing, would undergo a name change ahead of 2024.

After four years under the name of Alpha Tauri, the team will enter the 2024 championship under the full name: Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team. This strengthens their connection to the senior squad and the energy drink of which it represents.

However, RB will not be the only team to be sponsored by Visa on the teams respective F1 Academy entry, RB and the senior Red Bull team.

Chief Executive Officer of the newly rebranded Visa Cash App RB F1 Team Peter Bayer said:

“It’s fantastic to reveal the new identity and to welcome new partners as we embark on the next phase of the team’s Formula 1 story.

“Faenza is entering a new era of racing, staying true to our roots as a hothouse for talent but now with an even greater focus on competing for the biggest prizes in F1.

“We have a bold vision for the team led by myself and Team Principal, Laurent Mekies and having future-focused partners such as Visa and Cash App alongside us on that journey is hugely exciting.”

The team, formerly known as Alpha Tauri, joined F1 back in 2006 under the guise of Toro Rosso.

This allowed the Red Bull team to bring in junior drivers to gather experience in the pinnacle of single-seater motorsports before finding their place in the senior squad.

Such drivers included the four-time world champion Sebastien Vettel, three-time world champion Max Verstappen and eight-time race winner Daniel Ricciardo.

The team hasn’t gone winless during its time in the sport.

Sebastian Vettel secured the team’s first win for Toro Rosso in the 2008 Italian Grand Prix to become the youngest race winner at the time. Under its Alpha Tauri name, when it changed in 2020, Pierre Gasly (now Alpine driver) secured his first-ever F1 race win at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix.

On the announcement, Visa’s Chief Marketing Officer, Frank Cooper III  commented:

“This is a groundbreaking partnership, and a great opportunity for the Visa brand to engage one of the fastest-growing sports communities on the planet.

“This alliance resonates strongly with Visa’s vision to inspire individuals to ‘make it,’ striving to take small steps for improvement each day, during every race or event.”

The driver line-up will remain the same as 2023. Yuki Tsunoda enters his fourth consecutive season with the team whilst Daniel Ricciardo maintains his seat after replacing Nyck de Vries, last season.

They will sport the team’s new VISA and Cash App inspired livery design on their race suits and 2024 championship car. The car itself will be unveiled in Las Vegas as part of a special event on February 8.

That’s all for the article; Alpha Tauri rebranded to Visa Cash App RB ahead of 2024 season!

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
