16th January 202420-year-old Doriane Pin has joined the Mercedes F1 Team as part of their junior programme and she will represent the team ahead of the 2024 F1 Academy season.
Having risen through the ranks of endurance racing, the Parisian is a member of the ground-breaking Iron Dames project and has competed in a number of endurance races across the globe.
Pin motorsport history consists of the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the famous 24 Hours Le Mans at their centenary last year, and the IMSA SportsCar Championship. She also went on to become the first woman to win the coveted ‘Revelation of the Year’ Award.

Speaking on the announcement, Pin said:
“I am incredibly happy to join the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Junior Programme and to represent the team in F1 Academy this year with Prema Racing.
“A new chapter begins, and I am proud to make this next step in such a prestigious team and with the Iron Dames project.
“I am grateful for their trust and honoured to race for their colours. Moving into single-seaters was a clear objective for my career, and to be in this environment is a great approach.
“I am working very hard to reach the top level of this sport and I cannot wait to go racing.”
At the end of 2023, Pin got her first taste of single-seater racing as she secured second place in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, securing a race win in the process.
In turn, she will compete in the all-female F1 Academy series this season for Prema racing, alongside Tina Hausmann – representing Aston Martin. Their final teammate is yet to be announced.
Commenting on the news, Mercedes F1 Team Principal, Toto Wolff said:
“Doriane is an exciting talent and we’re pleased to begin our participation in F1 Academy with her as our chosen driver. We have kept a close eye on her development in recent years as she has consistently impressed.

“We now look forward to working in conjunction with Iron Dames, Prema Racing, and F1 Academy, to support Doriane as she takes the next step in her career.”
Whilst the F1 Academy grid is yet to be fully confirmed, their first race will be set in Saudi Arabia – as part of F1’s support category – on March 7 before they head to Miami, Barcelona, Zandvoort, Singapore, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
