Sauber renamed to Stake F1 Team ahead of 2024 F1 season

After a brief time teasing Formula One fans of a renaming, the Sauber team have revealed they are to be named Stake F1 Team ahead of the upcoming F1 season.

As of 2024, the team will run under Stake F1 Team going into the new F1 season after Sauber and Alfa Romeo parted ways at the end of the 2023 season.

Stake, the world’s leading betting, entertainment and lifestyle brand will become the team’s title partner for the remaining two seasons before the Swiss team rebrands into the Audi works team. The decision for Stake to take over naming rights of the team follows a successful partnership the two had in 2023.

Due to the renaming of the team, Stake will also take over the team’s social media handles becoming @stakef1team.

On the news, team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi commented:

“Last season represented the start of Stake’s journey in Formula One, and the brand’s new role headlining Stake F1 Team represents the natural and exciting next step on this path.

“Stake not only successfully tapped into Formula One’s growing fan base to enhance its own community; but also introduced a completely new audience to the sport, something that benefitted not only our team but also everyone else in F1.

“We had the opportunity to participate in some incredible activations with some of Stake’s ambassadors, including Argentine football legend, Sergio Aguero and Indian-Canadian rapper Karan Aujla. 2024 will be a new page and the chance to do more, better, and reach even farther: we are looking forward to an even more exciting calendar of events in this new season.”

As the team becomes Stake F1 Team, it will mark a new beginning for the team as they enter a ‘dynamic and exciting’ era, breaking away from conventional concepts of sports and entertainment sponsorship.

According to Sauber, it aims to redefine marketing activations in a more exciting manner and to challenge the status quo.

At the same time, the team remains focused on keeping the fans front and center while building upon its demographic that extends beyond the traditional F1 fan base.

The F1 team will compete under the name Stake F1 Team for 2024 and 2025 until the team moves over to become Audi in 2026.
