The seven-time world champion will be eyeing a good result in Montreal after two difficult weekends, which saw him struggle for pace compared to team-mate Charles Leclerc, but the season did start well with a first podium for the Scuderia in China.
Pundits and fans alike started to question Hamilton’s long-term future after a tough first campaign with Ferrari in 2025, but the British driver dismissed any speculation of a potential retirement ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix and confirmed his commitment to Ferrari.
Hamilton said: “I’m still focused, I’m still motivated. I still love what I do with all my heart, and I’m going to be here for quite some time, so get used to it. I’m still under contract, so everything’s 100 per cent clear to me.”
“There’s a lot of people that are trying to retire me. I’m already thinking of what will be next, and planning for the next five years.
“I still plan to be here for some time.”
Ferrari will be hoping to use Montreal to reset after a mixed opening four rounds of the 2026 season.
The Canadian Grand Prix remains one of Hamilton’s most successful circuits in F1, so he’ll be hoping to recover momentum going into the European section of the campaign.
