A run-in between Hamilton and Verstappen has resulted in a summons to the stewards’ office after the Hungarian Grand Prix, which was won by McLaren’s Lando Norris.
The stewards have described the incident as Verstappen allegedly forcing Hamilton off the track at turn four.
The incident was not immediately put under investigation when it occurred. It was noted by the officials, then upgraded into an investigation before it was revealed that it would be dealt with after the race.
Hamilton and Verstappen started the race out of position, with the seven-time world champion starting lower than the four-time world champion, in 12th and eighth, respectively.
When the race got going, Hamilton lost positions at the start, which hindered his recovery drive outside the top 10.
After the first round of pit stops, Hamilton – on the hard tyres – was yet to pit on lap 30, and was quickly caught up by Verstappen on fresh hard tyres, who joined the train of cars.
Verstappen sniffed a move up the inside at turn four, and as they both veered around the corner, Hamilton took to the run-off and it allowed Verstappen to move up into 11th place as the former returned to the circuit in 12th.
In the end, the Red Bull driver finished the race down in ninth, whereas the Ferrari finished in the same place they started.
