Verstappen left the best till last, literally, as the defending world champion was the final driver out on the Silverstone circuit to take away pole position from Piastri at the last attempt.

It was an incredible fight for pole position as the fight looked to be amongst the McLarens and Ferraris, but the Dutchman found the time when it was needed and will start on pole position ahead of, championship leader, Piastri.

Norris will head the second row ahead of fourth-placed Mercedes driver George Russell.

The four-time world champion will be hoping to turn pole into victory after he was not able to score any points last weekend, in Austria, as he was taken out by Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who qualified seventh.

Antonelli will serve a three-place grid penalty for the incident with Verstappen in Spielberg. He’s not the only one to serve a penalty as Haas’ Oliver Bearman, who qualified eighth, will have to complete a 10-place grid penalty on Sunday for a red flag infringement in Free Practice 3.

Although the Ferraris were competitive and looked to be in place to challenge for pole position, the two Scuderia drivers were only able to best fifth and sixth, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, respectively.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
